Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions seeks a Supervisory Security Officer to oversee security and inmate supervision in an assigned area, ensuring safety and proper record keeping. The role requires leadership, supervisory experience, and strong communication to coordinate staff and incidents.

The position focuses on policy development, staff training, incident response, and maintaining daily logs to help achieve facility goals in compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience working in a correctional setting, one (1) of which was in a position requiring supervisory capabilities).
• Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, able to command respect and possess tolerance to mental stress.
• Must be a United States citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident; reside in the United States or territories for the last five years; at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Supervises security/control activities and staff in an assigned area, ensuring facility coordination and safety.
• Assists in development and implementation of policies for custody, security and treatment of detainees.
• Responds to major incidents and provides prompt assistance to detainees/inmates.
• Directs work, staff training, evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Maintains records, daily logs, and ensures compliance with procedures.
