Job summary

Custodian position is a team member of the Wisconsin Union -Facilities Custodian Team. Basic duties include routine maintenance and cleaning, trash removal, snow removal and upkeep of the Memorial Union Terrace. Other duties will be assigned as needed. Work is performed under the guidance of a Custodial Services Supervisor.

Shift hours are 3pm until 11:30pm and days scheduled for Thursday through Monday. 40 hours per week. At UW-Madison- Memorial Union.

Qualifications

  • Ability to walk, stand, lift, carry, bend, stoop and climb for the majority of the shift.
  • Ability to lift and move supplies up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to remove snow and ice outside during cold weather.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables.
  • Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice.
  • Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs.
  • Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed.
  • Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities.

  • Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Applicants may be used for future openings also.
Key Job Responsibilities:

Compensation:
  • $17.51 per hour
  • Plus an additional $2.50 per hour for night hours worked (6pm-6am).
  • Plus an additional $0.80 per hour for weekend hours worked.
  • Plus Time and a half per hour for hours worked on designated legal holidays.
Required Qualifications:
  • -Ability to walk, stand, lift, carry, bend, stoop and climb for the majority of the shift, including
    extended periods of continuous physical activities with or without an accommodation.
  • -Ability to lift and move supplies, equipment and material regularly up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up
    to 100 lbs.
  • -Ability to remove snow and ice outside during cold weather.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working at same position for 3 months or more- Preferred
Education:
  • High School Diploma preferred
