Job summary

Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY, seeks an adjunct chef instructor for its Culinary Management program to teach Culinary Principles. The course covers fundamentals, cooking methods, and lab-based practice in a hybrid format with online lectures and on-site labs.

The instructor will demonstrate techniques, lecture, create tests, and assess student performance to standards. A ServSafe Manager certification is required, with online teaching certification within the year.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in culinary arts from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalent.
• At least 5 years professional culinary experience AND/OR at least 5 years prior teaching or training experience.
• Certified ServSafe Food Protection Manager.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrations, lecturing, compiling tests, and assessing student performance relative to standardized learning objectives.
• Course includes a lab component with hands-on cooking labs.
• Course is hybrid; online lecture material with in-person lab sessions. Must become online teaching certified through OCC QM within the full academic year.
