Job summary

Children’s Home seeking a Food Service Intern in New York to learn and assist on special functions and the business side of operations. Responsibilities include planning and cooking large batch meals, advising on menus, and collaborating across departments to support events.

Enrolled in a Culinary Arts program is required, with prior kitchen experience preferred. This is a part-time internship with benefits for students and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Culinary Arts program is required.
• Some experience cooking or working in a kitchen is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and entries into the EHR, with strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
• Work collaboratively with staff within the interdisciplinary team and with colleagues in other departments.
• Assure proper food storage, sanitation and rotation of refrigerators, freezers, pantries.
• Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner, meeting standards of content and professional presentation.
• Prepare menus for food program requirements and daily food production schedules.
• Perform routine clerical tasks such as maintaining files and balancing inventories.
• Assist in purchasing and ordering of all foods and maintain inventories.
• Manage job functions within established financial limits.
• Ensure sharp utensils are safe and securely locked.
• Special event meals will be monitored by assigned cooks for programs.
