Job summary

Sur La Table in Austin is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support chefs during classes and keep the kitchen clean and organized while engaging guests.

You will help with mise en place, ensure safety standards, assist with class execution, and contribute to a friendly, guest-obsessed store culture. Available to work between 12 and 16 hours per week with a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of employment.
• 1 year retail sales experience, preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience, preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and customer loyalty.
• Assist chefs with class execution that drives repeat visits and positive customer feedback.
• Deliver class revenue goals by ensuring high enrollment, positive reviews, and guest return rates.
• Set up and breakdown of classes including organizing mise en place, prepping ingredients, and cleaning workstations.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards; ensure compliance with health codes.
