Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support chefs, engage guests, and maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment. You will help run classes, assist with setup and breakdown, and contribute to a high-quality customer experience in a dynamic kitchen and retail setting.

The role emphasizes teamwork, hospitality, and adherence to food safety standards, with flexible part-time hours across days, evenings, and weekends to support class schedules.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• 1 year retail sales experience preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences.
• Maintain product knowledge through training and self-learning.
• Lead a guest-obsessed culture on the kitchen and sales floor.
• Assist chefs with class execution to drive repeat visits.
• Help achieve class revenue goals through enrollment and positive reviews.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales goals with KPIs driving store revenue.
• Set up and breakdown classes, prep mise en place and clean workstations.
• Clean and sanitize dishes and equipment promptly.
• Restock, organize, and maintain kitchen supplies.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Adhere to wage-hour laws and document time worked.
• Follow Sur La Table SOPs and policies.
