Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program is required.
  • Registered by ARRT and/or CT certified is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine CT procedures and ensure patient safety.
  • Assist physicians with ultrasonic-guided interventional procedures.
  • Operate equipment independently to complete imaging procedures.

This job is responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine CT procedures in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols. The role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Education

Required - Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program

Work Experience

Preferred - CT experience

Certifications

Required - Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or computed tomography ARRT (CT) certified OR ARRT registry eligible, registered within 90 days of employment, and holding a temporary state license if applicable.

CT registry eligible within one year; advanced certification in CT required within one year of becoming CT registry eligible. Current unrestricted license in the state of practice. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred – Advanced certification in CT accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficient with computer skills, data entry, and retrieval.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Windows applications and role-specific software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work without supervision.
  • Flexible with work duties and hours (nights, weekends, holidays, extended shifts).
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and blood flow hemodynamics.
  • Skills to identify stenosis or occlusion based on published criteria.
  • Assist physicians with ultrasonic-guided interventional procedures.
Job Duties
  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
  • Use radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Operate equipment independently to complete imaging procedures, including IV placement.
  • Review images for quality standards before transmission.
  • Perform quality control procedures adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Assist with departmental operations (inventory, scheduling, maintenance).
  • Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and communication styles.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium work - exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, with the ability to travel and work in patient care areas.
