This job is responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine CT procedures in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols. The role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Education

Required - Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program

Work Experience

Preferred - CT experience

Certifications

Required - Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or computed tomography ARRT (CT) certified OR ARRT registry eligible, registered by the ARRT within 90 days of employment, and temporary state license required. CT registry eligible within one year. Advanced certification in CT required within one year of becoming CT registry eligible. Current unrestricted license in the state of practice. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred - Advanced certification in CT acceptable to the ARRT.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Windows applications and relevant software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language.
  • Ability to work with confidentiality and under pressure.
  • Self-directed with flexible work hours as needed.
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and hemodynamics.
  • Skills to identify stenosis or occlusion and assist with interventional procedures.
Job Duties
  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
  • Use radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explain procedures to patients.
  • Operate equipment independently following protocols, including IV placement.
  • Review images for quality standards.
  • Perform quality control procedures and notify/remediate as needed.
  • Assist with departmental operations.
  • Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and communication needs.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium Work - Exerting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, and grasp. Must stand for prolonged periods and be able to travel between facilities.

Work involves exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and potential communicable diseases, with occupational risks for exposure to hazardous medications or waste. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
