Job Description

In collaboration with interventional radiologists and nursing, this job safely prepares for and scrubs into interventional procedures. This role requires advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography and provides care in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols.

Education

Required: Completion of a Radiologic Technology program in an AMA-approved school.

Work Experience

Required: None

Preferred: 2 years of experience in Interventional Radiology.

Certifications

Required: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE), Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred: Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Proficient with Windows applications, role-specific software, and keyboard.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Job Duties

• Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy.
• Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
• Operates equipment independently to complete imaging procedures according to protocol.
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.
• Completes quality control procedures in accordance with standards and regulations.
• Assists in departmental operations, including inventory, staffing, and equipment maintenance.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication styles.
• Other related duties as required.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical demands exceed those of Sedentary Work. Even with minimal weight, the job may be physically demanding due to activity or production pace.
