Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital in Mentor, OH is seeking a CT/MRI Scan Technologist Assistant to support operation of the CT/MRI department, patient prep, data entry, and image handling.

This entry-level role offers Monday–Friday, 12:30pm–9:00pm, with responsibilities including room setup, patient comfort, scanning coordination, and PACS image transfer. Requires a high school diploma, BLS, and healthcare experience or active radiology student.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
• One year of experience in a healthcare related field OR current radiology student.
• Broad knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Assure rooms are set up properly before beginning of procedure.
• Clean rooms promptly post-procedure.
• Assure patient modesty and comfort, assist patients with changing, answer call lights as appropriate and report any change in patient's condition or behavior.
• Assure patient is discharged to appropriate destination.
• Check proper identification of patient per policy and create patient identification bands.
• Schedule scans and watch queue.
• Verify physician exam order, look at needs of patient and initiate communication and inpatient flow.
• Document patient history, conditions and any other pertinent information on requisition/history sheet and ensure all data is entered into the computer on day of exam.
• Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS and report malfunctions.

As a CT/MRI Scan Technologist Assistant, you are involved in all aspects of the CT/MRI department operations, including department stocking, oral contrast preparation, exam data entry and more. A caregiver in this position works Monday – Friday, 12:30pm – 9:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Assure rooms are set up properly before beginning of procedure.
• Clean rooms promptly post-procedure.
• Assure patient modesty and comfort, assist patients with changing, answer call lights as appropriate and report any change in patient's condition or behavior.
• Assure patient is discharged to appropriate destination.
• Check proper identification of patient per policy and create patient identification bands.
• Schedule scans and watch queue.
• Verify physician exam order, look at needs of patient and initiate communication and inpatient flow.
• Document patient history, conditions and any other pertinent information on requisition/history sheet and ensure all data is entered into the computer on day of exam, including nonprocedural changes, additional exams, and order revision.
• Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS, when applicable knowledge in after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork immediately reporting any malfunctions to Help Desk and PACS Administrator.
• Follow Radiation/MRI Safety Guidelines.
• Operate all equipment properly and with care.
• Maintain ethical and professional relationships with all customers, demonstrating cooperative efforts with coworkers and the ability to accept constructive criticism.
• Assess the patient's readiness and need for learning, considering all aspects of diversity and inclusion.
• Determine the best methodology to deliver education and receive verbal feedback or return demonstration to validate learning.
• Provide verbal and/or written instructions for tests/procedures, diagnoses, and discharge when appropriate.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High school Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
• One year of experience in a healthcare related field OR current radiology student
• Broad knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

• Minimum hourly: $16.25
• Maximum hourly: $23.25
