Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Cryogenic Responsible Engineer to support the model and drawing side of cryogenic propellant management hardware. You will develop Creo models and drawings from concept to release, definitions, interfaces, and verification across the subsystem lifecycle.

You will work with internal and external suppliers, lead drafting tasks, participate in design reviews, and contribute to CAD modeling standards while maintaining configuration control and PMI data where applicable.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject area.
  • 2+ years of experience in cryogenic fluids and mechanical systems/components.
  • Experience supporting the development, integration, or certification of aerospace systems for flight.
  • Experience with fluid/gas components (solenoid valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation).
  • Experience with Cryogenic Fluid Management techniques and technologies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Creo Parametric for parts, assemblies, weldments, and drawings.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (per ASME Y14.5) and the ability to apply it to fabricated, machined, and welded fluid system hardware.
  • Experience working within a formal configuration management / engineering change / release process (CN, ECO, ECN, or equivalent).
  • Solid grasp of common manufacturing materials, processes, and tolerance/stack‑up analysis sufficient to produce manufacturable drawings without back‑and‑forth.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Work on complex cryogenic subsystems and components as part of the Zero-g Propellant Management Product Team (IPT), escalating ambiguous or high‑risk problems to senior engineers as needed.
  • Support hardware ownership from definition through delivery, contributing to design, verification, and integration activities for assigned components.
  • Track internal and external procurements and hardware dependencies to support subsystem delivery schedules.
  • Contribute to the diverse range of fluids propulsion design engineer tasks - supporting trade studies, component design/integration, first-order analysis, test support, and supplier interface as opportunities arise.
  • Participate in internal and external cryogenic technology development meetings.
  • Develop, modify, and release engineering models, assemblies, and drawings in Creo Parametric for cryogenic propellant management hardware, including valves, manifolds, tubing, pressure vessels, and support structure.
  • Generate fabrication and assembly drawings in accordance with Blue Origin drafting standards and applicable GD&T requirements.
  • Apply Model Based Definition (MBD) practices where applicable, embedding PMI (datums, notes, finish callouts) on the model for programs and hardware where MBD is the controlled deliverable.
  • Follow Blue Origin CAD modeling conventions and Windchill configuration management requirements; maintain product data and support changes through the CN‑controlled release process.
  • Create Interface Control Models and Interface Control Drawings for cryogenic fluid system hardware.
  • Deliver geometry to analysis teams to support Finite Element Models.
  • Support hardware drawing release, manufacturing plan development, and integration onto the vehicle.
  • Perform model checks, drawing checks, and participate in design reviews to ensure conformance with applicable engineering, safety, and program standards before release.
  • Support vendor RFQs, fabrication, inspection, and proof‑test packages by producing associated deliverables (BOMs, weldment details, machined‑part details, inspection drawings, as‑built redlines).
