Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Cryogenic Responsible Engineer to support the model and drafting of cryogenic propellant hardware in Creo Parametric. You will contribute from concept through release, working with suppliers to design, model, and detail valves, manifolds, tubing, and pressure vessels for lunar missions.

The role requires a B.S. in a technical field and 5+ years in cryogenic fluids or mechanical systems, with strong GD&T and Windchill skills.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject.
  • 5+ years in cryogenic fluids and mechanical systems/components.
  • Experience supporting development, integration, or certification of aerospace systems for flight.
  • Experience with fluid/gas components: solenoid valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, instrumentation.
  • Experience with Cryogenic Fluid Management techniques and technologies.
  • Proficient with Creo Parametric for parts, assemblies, weldments, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and applying to hardware.
  • Experience with configuration management / release processes (CN, ECO, ECN).
  • Understanding materials, processes, tolerances for manufacturable drawings.
  • Teamwork in fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, graphical communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work on complex cryogenic subsystems and components as part of the Zero-g Propellant Management Product Team (IPT), escalating ambiguous or high-risk problems to senior engineers as needed.
  • Support hardware ownership from definition through delivery, contributing to design, verification, and integration activities for assigned components.
  • Track internal and external procurements and hardware dependencies to support subsystem delivery schedules.
  • Contribute to the diverse range of fluids propulsion design engineer tasks - supporting trade studies, component design/integration, first-order analysis, test support, and supplier interface as opportunities arise.
  • Participate in internal and external cryogenic technology development meetings.
  • Develop, modify, and release engineering models, assemblies, and drawings in Creo Parametric for cryogenic propellant management hardware, including valves, manifolds, tubing, pressure vessels, and support structure.
  • Generate fabrication and assembly drawings in accordance with Blue Origin drafting standards and applicable GD&T requirements.
  • Apply Model Based Definition (MBD) practices where applicable, embedding PMI (datums, notes, finish callouts) on the model for programs and hardware where MBD is the controlled deliverable.
  • Follow Blue Origin CAD modeling conventions and Windchill configuration management requirements; maintain product data and support changes through the CN-controlled release process.
  • Create Interface Control Models and Interface Control Drawings for cryogenic fluid system hardware.
  • Deliver geometry to analysis teams to support Finite Element Models.
  • Support hardware drawing release, manufacturing plan development, and integration onto the vehicle.
  • Perform model checks, drawing checks, and participate in design reviews to ensure conformance with applicable engineering, safety, and program standards before release.
  • Support vendor RFQs, fabrication, inspection, and proof-test packages by producing associated deliverables (BOMs, weldment details, machined-part details, inspection drawings, as-built redlines).
