Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Ground Systems Fluids Systems Design Engineer for Space Coast, FL. You will own the design of cryogenic and high-pressure fluid subsystems from concept to fabrication hand-off, including P&IDs, flow modeling, and field validation.

This role demands hands-on field work and collaboration across disciplines. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in fluid/mechanical design, strong communication, and the ability to obtain site badges for government installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or related engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of professional experience in fluid or mechanical system design.
• Experience producing and releasing P&IDs and driving them through review.
• Proficiency in at least one fluid network modeling or thermal analysis tool.
• Willingness to spend real time in the field: site walks, walkdowns, leak checks, integrated testing.
• Strong communication: written, verbal, and collaboration with technicians or vendors.
• Ability to obtain and maintain government badges for installations.
• Ability to perform hands-on field work in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Design and release cryogenic and high-pressure fluid systems from concept through detailed design and hand-off to fabrication.
• Own P&IDs for assigned subsystems and manage configuration through ECNs.
• Build flow-network and thermal models to size lines and predict transient behavior.
• Perform pressure system calculations to ASME B31.3 and B31.12 and document for hand-off.
• Support leak checks, functional tests, and field walkdowns to validate designs.
• Coordinate across mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, and operations to ensure buildability and safety.
• Participate in PHA, HAZOP, and design reviews with data-driven input.
• Support planning and execution of system-level tests and analyze results.
