Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a design engineer to own cryogenic and high-pressure fluid subsystems from concept through fabrication hand-off. You will draft P&IDs, size lines with flow and thermal models, and perform ASME-based calculations.

Field work and cross-discipline coordination are essential in a fast-paced aerospace environment. You will collaborate with senior fluids engineers, build robust documentation, and contribute to safety and reliability on real flight pads in Florida.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in fluid or mechanical system design, analysis, or release.
  • Experience producing P&IDs and driving them through review and release.
  • Proficiency in at least one fluid network modeling or thermal analysis tool (AFT Fathom/Arrow, GFSSP, Sinda/Fluent, Thermal Desktop, or comparable).
  • Working knowledge of fluid system components: valves, regulators, pumps, fittings, relief devices, filters.

Responsibilities

  • Design and release cryogenic and high-pressure fluid systems from concept through detailed design and hand-off to fabrication.
  • Own P&IDs for assigned subsystems and manage configuration through ECNs.
  • Build flow-network and thermal models to size lines and predict transient behavior.
  • Perform pressure system calculations to ASME B31.3 and B31.12; document for knowledge transfer.
  • Walk down installed hardware; support leak checks, tests, and data-driven design feedback.
  • Coordinate across mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, and operations to keep systems buildable and safe.
  • Participate in PHA, HAZOP, and design reviews with data-driven input.
