Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Process Operator Specialist for the Air Separation Unit (ASU) at Starbase. You will operate cryogenic distillation systems, turboexpanders, and high-purity LOX production, monitor DCS/HMI, and coordinate with engineers and technicians to ensure safe, reliable plant operations.

You will gain hands-on experience with cryogenic physics, thermodynamics, and equipment performance maps while contributing to continuous improvement and safety programs across the facility.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or process engineering technology or 6+ years in industrial/plants with air separation
• 4+ years operating or supporting automated industrial processes
• Experience with P&IDs and process diagrams is a plus

Responsibilities

• Monitor ASU via DCS/HMI; perform field rounds and report deviations
• Troubleshoot and calibrate critical ASU equipment including compressors, turboexpanders, distillation columns
• Execute startups, shutdowns, mode changes, and abnormal situation responses
• Collect samples, perform basic field tests, log data accurately
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to improve operating procedures and checklists
• Ensure lockout/tagout, permit-to-work and PSM activities are followed
