Job summary

City Cruises is seeking a Cook I to work aboard our scenic passenger vessel in Norfolk. You will join a busy galley team, preparing and presenting hot and cold dishes, maintaining buffet stations, and delivering meals to dining areas.

You’ll follow RESPECT service standards, ensuring food safety, quality, and timely service in a dynamic, waterfront setting. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting items, and working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or culinary experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Energetic, dependable, and team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to take direction and work well under supervision.
• Strong communication and service skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks.
• Ability to lift and move food supplies, containers, and provisions.
• Must meet minimum state age requirements.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and efficient hospitality to guests and coworkers following our RESPECT service standards.
• Maintain and replenish buffet areas to ensure food quality, freshness, and presentation.
• Rotate food properly and monitor freshness standards.
• Read and follow ticketing systems to deliver food accurately.
• Prepare, portion, arrange, and garnish hot and cold food items.
• Deliver food promptly from the galley to dining areas.
• Assist with daily galley cleaning, including equipment, surfaces, and floors.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and service standards.
• Maintain a professional appearance and support additional duties as assigned.
