Innova Solutions Inc. is actively seeking a Critical Infrastructure Engineer in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on operating and maintaining essential electrical systems within a data center to ensure continuous power availability and reliability.

Candidates should have a background in electrical engineering or related fields with hands-on experience in UPS, generators, ATS/STS, and switchgear, along with safety and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in critical facilities or data center operations.
• Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and schematics.
• Familiar with power distribution and redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N).

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical electrical infrastructure within the data center.
• Ensure continuous availability of power systems including UPS, ATS, generators, switchgear and distribution.
• Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on critical systems.
• Respond to alarms and incidents to minimize downtime; coordinate with vendors for upkeep and upgrades.
• Support capacity planning and infrastructure improvements to meet growth and reliability goals.

Job description

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Critical Infrastructure Engineer.

Position Details

• Position Type: Full-Time, Contract to Hire Duration: 6 months
• Location: Charlotte NC 28217 (Onsite)
• Shift: Second shift (03:00 pm to 12:00 am) Sunday through Thursday

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical electrical infrastructure within the data center.
• Ensure continuous availability of power systems including: UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Diesel/Natural Gas Generators, Switchgear and electrical distribution systems, Static transfer switches.
• Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on all critical systems.
• Respond to system alarms, failures, and incidents in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
• Support capacity planning and infrastructure improvements to meet growth and reliability goals.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and company policies (NFPA, OSHA, etc.).
• Assist in commissioning and integration of new electrical systems and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3-7+ years of experience in critical facilities or data center operations.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • UPS systems (Liebert, APC, Eaton, or equivalent)
  • Generators and paralleling systems
  • ATS / STS systems
  • Medium- and low-voltage switchgear
• Strong understanding of power distribution and redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N).
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and incident response.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams and schematics.
• Familiarity with DCIM or BMS monitoring tools.

Pay Range*: $40-$45 per hour *Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
