Job summary

Innova Solutions is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Engineer in Charlotte, NC to operate and maintain data center power systems, including UPS, ATS, and generators. You will monitor electrical infrastructure, respond to alarms, and coordinate with vendors to ensure reliability and uptime.

The role requires a 3–7+ year background in critical facilities, hands-on experience with switchgear and DCIM/BMS tools, and a strong understanding of N/N+1 redundancy. Onsite role with a 2nd shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–7+ years of experience in critical facilities or data center operations.
• Hands-on experience with UPS systems (Liebert/APC/Eaton) and generators.
• Experience with ATS/STS systems and switchgear.
• Strong understanding of power distribution and redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N).
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and incident response.
• Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and schematics.
• Familiarity with DCIM or BMS monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain documentation (SOPs, MOPs, EOPs) and ensure safety compliance.
• Assist in commissioning and integration of new electrical systems.

Job description

Critical Infrastructure Engineer

Position Type: Full-Time, Contract to Hire

Duration: 6 months

Location: Charlotte NC 28217 (Onsite)

Shift: Second shift (03:00 pm to 12:00 am) Sunday through Thursday

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical electrical infrastructure within the data center.
• Ensure continuous availability of power systems including:
  • UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems
  • Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
  • Diesel/Natural Gas Generators
  • Switchgear and electrical distribution systems
  • Static transfer switches
• Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on all critical systems.
• Respond to system alarms, failures, and incidents in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
• Support capacity planning and infrastructure improvements to meet growth and reliability goals.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and company policies (NFPA, OSHA, etc.).
• Assist in commissioning and integration of new electrical systems and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3–7+ years of experience in critical facilities or data center operations.
• Hands‑on experience with:
  • UPS systems (Liebert, APC, Eaton, or equivalent)
  • Generators and paralleling systems
  • ATS / STS systems
  • Medium- and low-voltage switchgear
• Strong understanding of power distribution and redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N).
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and incident response.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical one‑line diagrams and schematics.
• Familiarity with DCIM or BMS monitoring tools.

Pay Range and Benefits

Pay Range*: $40-$45 per hour

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
