Job summary

Atrium Health's Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide specialized inhalation therapy and ventilator support. The role requires evaluating therapies, supporting critically ill patients, and collaborating with the care team to optimize outcomes.

Responsibilities include administering procedures, documenting results in the EMR, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved two- or four-year respiratory care program.
• RRT credential by NBRC and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in NC.
• BLS required. PALS and NRP within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS required within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in oxygen delivery modes and equipment; conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures.
• Administers therapies, understands purpose/benefits and potential effects; performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
• Operates and monitors ventilators (mechanical and non-invasive) and related therapy.
• Evaluates current therapies independently and makes care plan recommendations.
• Documents therapy results and communicates with the healthcare team; maintains EMR proficiency.
• Initiates and adjusts respiratory care techniques in emergencies; conducts blood sampling analysis and interprets results.
