Job summary

Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide expert care across emergency and inpatient settings. You will administer oxygen therapy, operate ventilators, perform diagnostic tests, and monitor patient responses under policy guidelines.

Responsibilities include documenting therapy, communicating with the care team, and adhering to safety and regulatory requirements while delivering compassionate, age-appropriate care to all patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy required (or equivalent experience).
• BA/BS or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each.
• Administers therapeutic procedures, understanding the purpose and benefits, and possible effects; performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
• Initiates, monitors and maintains mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilators; aware of critical care duties and effects of therapy.
• Independently evaluates current therapies and makes proper recommendations concerning plans of care and patient education needs.
• Documents therapy and results; communicates information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
• Initiates, conducts and modifies respiratory care techniques in emergencies; performs blood sampling analysis and interprets results.
• Works independently in all patient care areas and is proficient in EMR interfaces with Respiratory Care Department.
• Follows safety guidelines and regulatory requirements; completes proficiency evaluation of equipment and procedures.
