Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to independently manage oxygen delivery modes and ventilatory support in a hospital setting. The role requires evaluating current therapies, documenting outcomes, and communicating with the care team to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include initiating emergency respiratory care, analyzing blood gas results, and maintaining electronic health records accuracy while adhering to PHI/privacy guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Associate degree in respiratory therapy required; BA/BS or higher preferred.
• 2 years critical care experience for Free-Standing ED; new grads with RRT credentials eligible.
• Knowledge of PHI protection, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in oxygen delivery methods and equipment; conducts prescribed respiratory procedures.
• Administers procedures, understands purpose/benefits, and documents results.
• Initiates, monitors, and maintains mechanical/non-invasive ventilators in critical care.
• Evaluates therapies and makes recommendations on plans of care and patient education.
• Documents therapy and communicates with the healthcare team per policy.
