Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a licensed Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care in a high-acuity setting. You will administer oxygen therapies, operate ventilators, and collaborate with the care team to optimize patient outcomes.

The role requires RRT credentialing, active state licensure, and strong clinical judgment. Experience in critical care and emergency scenarios is preferred, with emphasis on patient education and safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy required (or equivalent experience may be considered). BA/BS or higher preferred.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Basic Life Support for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association required; advanced certification per facility.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in oxygen delivery modes and equipment; conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation.
• Administers therapeutic procedures and understands benefits; performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
• Initiates, monitors and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators; aware of critical care duties and effects of therapy.
• Evaluates current therapies, recommends plans of care and patient education needs.
• Documents therapy and results; communicates with the healthcare team.
