Job summary

Boston MedFlight in Bedford, MA is seeking a Communication Specialist (Dispatcher) to facilitate air and ground patient transport, coordinating messages between medical teams, facilities and pilots. Required are EMS/dispatch experience, BLS and MA EMT-B or NREMT-B within one year, plus Flight Communicator IAMTCS within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Previous EMS and dispatch experience required; preferably 2 years in high-volume settings.
• BLS certification and MA EMT-B or NREMT-B within one year of hire.
• Flight Communicator Certification IAMTCS within 18 months of hire.
• 12-hour rotating shifts including day, night and weekend coverage.
• Excellent telephone communication skills; able to work independently or collaboratively.
• Must read, write and understand English clearly.
• Basic computer data entry; knowledge of CAD systems and MS Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate requests for transportation by air and ground.
• Serve as primary communication link between medical teams, facilities, pilots and physicians.
• Operate radios and dispatch programs; monitor weather and flight following systems.
• Monitor base-site locations, helipads and hangars; maintain documentation.
• Assist in orientation and training of new department personnel.
• Data entry, clerical support and logistical assistance for the system.
• Public education and participation on organization committees.
