Job summary

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago seeks a Nursing Assistant to support the SICU team under the supervision of registered nurses. You will assist with patient care, monitor vital signs, document in the EMR, and help with admissions, transfers, and transports.

Requires a GED/HSED or high school diploma and BLS plus Nurse Aide certification. The role involves physical tasks and adherence to infection control practices.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily patient care including bathing, feeding, mobility and transfers.
• Measures and documents vital signs and input/output in EMR.
• Performs rounding, communicates observations to RN promptly.
• Helps with admission/transfer/discharge as directed and manages room setup.
• Collects specimens and assists with point-of-care tests per protocol.
• Runs errands, restocks nursing station, and cleans equipment and work areas.
• Performs patient positioning and lifting with proper technique and use of assistive devices.
• Maintains skin care and ensures supplies, including TED hose, are in place.
• May assist with IVs removal, post mortem care, and bladder scans as required.
• Adheres to infection control policies, hygiene, and PPE; age-appropriate patient care.
