Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the MICCU at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. The role is full-time (36 hours per week) with benefits eligible.

The position involves assisting the nursing team with patient care in a high-acuity unit, performing routine tasks, vitals and specimen collection under RN supervision. Candidates must have a GED/HSED or high school diploma, and BLS certification within 45 days, along with Nurse Aide in good standing.

Qualifications

• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 45 days is required.
• Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry.
• GED/HSED or High School Diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding and ambulation.
• Measure and document vitals, intake/output, daily weights in EMR.
• Perform rounding under RN supervision and communicate observations.
• Assist in admission, transfer and discharge under RN supervision.
• Ensure patient call light is reachable and respond promptly.
• Collect urine, stool and sputum specimens and perform point‑of‑care testing as indicated.
• Maintain nursing area stock and clean equipment.
• Assist with patient positioning and safe transfers.
• Support diet-related tasks including tray setup and meal selectio n.
