Job summary

Denton County Friends of the Family is seeking a compassionate Crisis Services Advocate to join its Crisis Services team. The role delivers crisis intervention, intakes, safety planning, and information referrals for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

You will respond to the 24/7 crisis line, support the Survivors Advocacy Team (SAT), and coordinate with hospitals and law enforcement as needed. A bachelor’s degree and trauma-informed approach are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relationship violence, sexual assault, and trauma-informed interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Conduct agency intakes, including needs and risk assessments, service planning, and shelter eligibility screening.
  • Respond to crisis line calls, walk-in clients, and Survivors' Advocacy Team (SAT) response needs.
  • Support Survivors' Advocacy Team (SAT) response, including coordination and dispatch to hospitals and law enforcement agencies.
  • Assess client needs and connect clients to appropriate resources, including agency programs and community services.
  • Provide information and education on protective orders, crime victims' compensation, and available agency services.
  • Coordinate with external partners to support client safety.
  • Provide SAT on-call coverage, responding onsite to area hospitals and law enforcement agencies.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential client records and documentation.
  • Apply professional judgment to client interactions and problem-solving in crisis situations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule that may include evening, weekend and holiday hours.
