Job summary

LifeWorks NW in Oregon seeks a Crisis Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-oriented services to individuals in mental health crisis. You use your lived experience to support safety, connection to services, and community integration at the Hawthorn site.

You will collaborate with Crisis Team, document updates timely, and help clients achieve short-term goals while maintaining confidentiality and promoting self-determination.

Qualifications

• Must be a current or former recipient of mental health services.
• Must hold Peer Support Specialist certification from a State-approved training program.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills and ability to provide culturally-competent treatment services to diverse client populations.
• Familiar with developmental needs of adults and children.

Responsibilities

• Uses a Person-Centered approach to create and work on a short term Peer-Assisted Wellness Recovery Plan tailored to the individual.
• Collaborates with Crisis Team and Intensive Transition Team staff to assist with safety planning and ongoing mental health services.
• Models recovery principles and uses lived experience for guidance and self-care.
• Informs clients of available service options and promotes use of natural supports and community resources.
• Assists individuals in navigating mental health services and achieving wellness and recovery as defined by the person.
• Shares personal recovery experiences as appropriate for training.
• Works with clients on specific short-term crisis treatment goals.
• Provides support to clients with symptoms that could lead to hospitalization, including practical assistance and companionship.
• Helps clients access community resources such as food, healthcare appointments, and other services.
• Aids clients in maintaining medication compliance and may deliver medications or make reminder calls.
• Maintains client confidentiality of treatment records.
• Educates and advocates for Peer Delivered Services and the Recovery Model.
• Completes documentation in a timely manner.
