Job summary

Advantage Behavioral Health Systems is seeking a Peer Specialist to provide one-on-one recovery coaching and group skills sessions in a crisis services setting. You will document client progress in the EHR, participate in treatment team planning, and help link clients to community resources that support recovery.

The role emphasizes using Motivational Interviewing, maintaining professional boundaries, and supporting multiple pathways to recovery within home and community settings.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required; 18+ years old.
• Experience or willingness to identify as someone with mental illness (per CPS guidelines).
• Leadership, advocacy, or governance experience desirable.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related social services field.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one recovery coaching using Motivational Interviewing techniques.
• Facilitate group skills training and education sessions.
• Document client interactions in the EHR by end of shift.
• Attend treatment team meetings and contribute to treatment planning.
• Link clients to community resources to support recovery.
