Job summary
Advantage Behavioral Health Systems in Athens, GA is seeking a Peer Specialist to provide paraprofessional support within Behavioral Health Crisis Services. Under supervision, you will offer one-on-one recovery coaching, facilitate group skills training, and document client interactions in the EHR.
You will use Motivational Interviewing, help clients identify recovery goals, connect to community resources, participate in treatment planning, and collaborate with the treatment team while upholding
Qualifications
- Must have a diagnosed mental illness (or addiction/dual diagnosis) and identify as a person with mental illness.
- GED or high school diploma; at least 18 years old.
- Experience with leadership, advocacy, or governance in recovery context.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one recovery coaching using Motivational Interviewing.
- Facilitate group skills training and education sessions.
- Document client interactions and progress in the EHR by end of shift.
- Assist with treatment planning and reviews with client and family.
- Attend treatment team meetings and participate in plan development.
- Identify community resources to support recovery.
- Maintain client confidentiality and ethical boundaries.
