Job summary

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking a Crisis Line Counselor to join our 24/7/365 crisis line team in Texas. You will provide immediate intervention, de-escalation, and connect callers to appropriate levels of care, while maintaining a safe and nonjudgmental space.

This role supports calls from our regional hub for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Responsibilities include taking calls during assigned shifts, building rapport, documenting thoroughly, and making timely

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Customer service experience, phone related preferred.
• Be able to attend and successfully complete 200 plus hours of training.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls during an assigned shift with empathy and rapport.
• Utilize active listening and crisis intervention skills.
• Assess calls using the Crisis Line Comprehensive Framework tool.
• Collaborate with caller to brainstorm coping options and next steps.
• Provide resources and referrals based on call type and framework.
