Job summary

Intellect is seeking a full-time Crisis Helpline Responder to provide empathetic, evidence-based crisis counselling to callers in distress. You will respond to hotline inquiries, assess immediate safety, and coordinate appropriate referrals while maintaining detailed documentation.

The role requires 1–3 years of helpline experience, training in crisis intervention or suicide prevention, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of helpline experience (paid or voluntary).
• Completed crisis intervention or suicide prevention training.
• Experience with high-risk clinical situations or crisis cases.
• Ability to maintain composure under stress and adapt quickly.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis hotline calls and provide immediate support.
• Conduct risk and lethality assessments for callers.
• Provide evidence-based crisis counselling and de-escalation.
• Assess caller needs and triage for safety or referrals.
• Document call reports and referrals accurately.
• Comply with data protection laws and privacy standards.
• Assist in developing crisis management plans.
• Make quick in-the-moment decisions when needed.
