Job summary

The Ion Center for Violence Prevention in Covington, KY is hiring a Crisis Intervention Specialist (Non-Residential) to provide crisis intervention and case management for primary and secondary survivors of crime, with emphasis on partner and sexual violence, and stalking. You will support safety planning, resource linkage, and advocacy in a compassionate, trauma-informed approach.

Responsibilities include intake assessments, counseling, advocacy, and collaboration with partners to ensure access

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care.
  • Ability to work under highly stressful, crisis-oriented situations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Outstanding empathetic and listening skills.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate on a team.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Complete trainings for funding requirements and knowledge building.
  • Must be a minimum age of 18.

Responsibilities

  • Intake and assessment: maintain confidentiality, field crisis hotline calls/texts/chat, assess needs, connect to resources, assist with paperwork, help develop safety plans.
  • Counseling and case management: provide trauma-informed individual/family or group counseling, educate on violence-related topics, identify goals related to benefits, childcare, education, budget, housing; transport to meetings.
  • Advocacy: support clients navigating legal system, accompany to court, assist with protection orders; collaborate with partners, law enforcement, medical staff, and social services; assist with victim compensation.
  • Communication, teamwork, and administration: maintain files, attend trainings, report stats, disseminate donations, contribute to trauma-informed environment, collaborate across sites.
  • Other duties: standard duties may change; maintain confidentiality and adapt as needed.
