Job summary

The Ion Center for Violence Prevention in Newport, KY seeks a Crisis Intervention Specialist for the 3rd shift to provide crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy for survivor-victims in our shelter. You will support intake, safety planning, and linkage to community resources while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities include counseling, team collaboration, documentation, and coordination with partners to ensure comprehensive services.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care.
  • Ability to handle highly stressful, crisis-oriented situations.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate on a team.
  • Complete trainings for funding requirements and knowledge building.
  • Must be a minimum age of 18.

Responsibilities

  • Intake and assessment: maintain confidentiality, field crisis calls/texts, assess needs, connect to resources, assist with paperwork, develop safety plans.
  • Counseling and case management: provide trauma-informed counseling, educate survivors on relevant topics, support goals related to benefits, childcare, education, budget, and housing; transport clients as needed.
  • Advocacy: assist clients navigating the legal system, hospital advocacy on call, collaborate with partners and agencies, assist with crime victim compensation.
  • Documentation and team duties: maintain files, attend trainings, report statistics, disseminate donations, support a trauma-informed work environment, collaborate across sites.
