Job summary

Idaho State Police in Meridian, Idaho seeks a Technical Records Specialist 1 to join the Applicant Unit. This full-time position provides records support, reviews documents, ensures compliance with laws and policies, and maintains a manual or computerized records system.

The role involves handling background checks, fingerprint services, and data entry, with background investigation and polygraph required. Fluency in English and Spanish is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors.
• Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems.
• Interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments.
• Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system.
• Ability to type 40 words per minute.
• At least one year of work experience obtaining and safeguarding sensitive information.
• Experience using word processing software to create and modify documents.
• Experience with cash handling, balancing and reconciling.
• Ability to speak English & Spanish fluently.
• Previous experience working in a law enforcement agency.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, approve, and process civil and law enforcement applicant background check documents.
• Research, analyze, and interpret responses from criminal history records.
• Determine and explain compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policies and take action.
• Evaluate and manage processing of transactions into electronic accounting software.
• Provide fingerprint services for licensing, employment and personal criminal history checks.
