Job summary

The Idaho State Tax Commission is seeking a Technical Records Specialist 1 to assist in the registration and processing of Idaho tax records in permitted accounting. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can gather information, interpret laws, and explain them to others within the office environment, working in Boise, ID.

Responsibilities include information gathering, applying independent judgment, conducting searches across multiple sources, and maintaining records systems.

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors.
• 6 months of experience researching various sources to resolve problems.
• 6 months of experience interpreting and applying regulations or complex policies.

Responsibilities

• Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries.
• Use independent judgment and discretion to complete assignments.
• Conduct searches across sources to obtain information from taxpayers, vendors, or outside sources.
• Interpret, explain tax rules, regulations, statutes, and program policies.
• Explain requirements and procedures to others, internally and externally.
• Review and process records, payments, and documents.
• Maintain and update manual or computerized records systems and generate reports.
• Communicate with taxpayers and preparers by telephone, email, or other written correspondence.
