Job summary

City of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is seeking a qualified Crime Analyst to compile and analyze statistical data to map potential criminal activity and create visual presentations such as spreadsheets, maps, and graphs.

The role involves researching complex law enforcement data, forecasting staffing needs, and preparing reports and presentations for internal and external use. A Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 1 year of analytical experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Administration, Computer Science, Sociology, Political Science, or closely related field.
• 1 year of work experience in law enforcement, data analysis, research methods, statistics, or related analytical field.
• Experience with reporting/reporting software (Power BI, Crystal Reports, SQL, Access, ArcMap or similar GIS).

Responsibilities

• Analyze crime data and identify patterns, trends, and forecasts.
• Plot incidents and create visual presentations (maps, charts, reports).
• Prepare periodic statistical reports and charts for internal and external use.
• Coordinate information processing with law enforcement colleagues and stakeholders.
• Assist in preparing presentations and predictive analyses for deployments.
