Job summary

The Town of Matthews seeks a Police Detective (Crime Analyst) to analyze crime patterns, trends, and data to support investigations and patrol deployment. The role emphasizes producing actionable intelligence and collaborating with local, state, and federal partners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required by date of employment.
• Two years of experience as a full-time sworn officer or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree or higher preferred in related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform tactical and strategic crime analysis to identify patterns and hotspots.
• Prepare analytical products: bulletins, maps, graphs, and summaries for investigations.
• Develop and present intelligence briefings to command staff and personnel.
• Support resource deployment and directed patrol through data-driven recommendations.
• Coordinate with prosecutors and partner agencies to exchange information.
• Conduct preliminary investigations and assist in offender apprehension and case closure.
