Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced crew supervisor in Minnesota to lead tree trimming operations and ensure safety compliance. You will coach crews, coordinate tasks, and manage production records while adhering to OSHA and ANSI standards.

The role requires 3+ years of field experience, valid driver’s license, and certification in first aid/CPR with readiness for herbicide training. Strong communication and stress management skills are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience on tree-trimming/clearing crews or successful skills assessments
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
• First-Aid and CPR cards or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
• Ability to obtain a valid driver’s license and DOT medical card as applicable
• Herbicide application certification or equivalent as required by Wright Tree Service
• Ability to lead crews and handle stressful situations while multitasking
• Knowledge of tree species, growth, and arboricultural techniques near energized conductors
• Familiarity with ANSI Z133.1 and ANSI A300 standards
• Ability to read circuit maps and understand electrical systems
• OSHA electrical standards knowledge including 29 CFR 1910.269

Responsibilities

• Provide support and coaching to the crew to achieve production goals

• Load limbs and logs onto vehicles and equipment
• Maintain production records, timesheets, and work orders
• Coordinate crew response during emergencies and disasters, including travel
• Drive and operate assigned vehicles and equipment
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with laws and policies
• Stage and clean tools, maintain orderly work areas
• Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment

Job description

• Allocate and prioritize tasks as directed by the General Foreperson
• Conduct safety training, pre-job briefings, crew assignments, and employee coaching
• Apply herbicides to stumps and brush and maintain application records
• Obtain property-owner permission and coordinate access to job sites
• Trim, remove, and fell trees using climbing equipment and ground tools
• Conduct work-area inspections and identify hazards
• Load vehicles and equipment with limbs and logs
• Repair minor property damage and escalat[e] issues to the General Foreperson
• Maintain customer and public relations
• Maintain production records, timesheets, work orders, crew assignments, manhours, and cost controls
• Interpret utility maps, drawings, power-line symbols, voltages, and equipment
• Set up traffic-control devices, direct traffic, and coordinate with property owners, customers, and emergency personnel
• Stage and clean tools and equipment and maintain an orderly work area
• Inspect and perform routine maintenance on vehicles, equipment, and tools
• Coordinate crew response during emergencies and natural disasters, including travel outside the regular work location
• Drive and operate assigned vehicles and equipment
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance and comply with applicable laws and company policies

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews, or successful completion of applicable skills assessments
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
• Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s or commercial driver’s license and DOT medical card, as applicable
• Herbicide application certification or equivalent as required by Wright Tree Service and applicable law
• Excellent leadership skills and ability to handle stressful situations and multitask
• Knowledge of trees, identification, growth habits, and arboricultural techniques near energized conductors
• Knowledge of ANSI Z133.1 and ANSI A300 standards
• Knowledge of electrical circuits and ability to read circuit maps
• Knowledge of OSHA electrical standards, including 29 CFR 1910.269
• Ability to determine nominal voltage and use insulated tools near energized parts
• Ability to recognize poisonous plants and use required PPE
• Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, holidays, weekends, and storm work; subject to call-out work
• Knowledge and training in tree and bucket rescue
• Ability to operate and service required tools and equipment
• Ability to work independently and in a group
• English reading, writing, and speaking required
• Extensive travel required, greater than 50%
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and working outdoors on rugged terrain
