Job summary

Mustang Cat, Houston, TX, is hiring a Credit Analyst to join the Credit & Collections team. You will evaluate commercial and consumer credit applications, assess risk, establish limits, and support growth while protecting financial interests.

The role suits experienced credit professionals who enjoy independent decision-making in a fast-paced environment. Strong Excel skills and knowledge of credit reporting platforms are required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in commercial credit analysis or underwriting.
• Experience evaluating commercial and consumer credit information.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and credit risk.
• Proficiency with Excel and credit reporting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Review commercial and consumer credit applications to determine creditworthiness and limits.
• Analyze credit reports and financial statements to assess risk.
• Approve, decline, or recommend terms within authority.
• Monitor accounts for delinquencies and changes in risk.
• Collaborate with Sales and Credit teams to support timely decisions.
• Maintain accurate credit records and ensure policy compliance.
• Identify process improvements to reduce exposure and improve efficiency.

What You'll Do As a Credit Analyst

As a Credit Analyst, you'll play an important role in evaluating customer creditworthiness, managing financial exposure, and supporting our sales and rental operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate commercial and eligible consumer credit applications to determine creditworthiness and appropriate credit limits.


• Analyze business and consumer credit reports using Dun & Bradstreet, Experian, MicroBilt, and similar platforms.


• Review financial statements, cash flow, payment histories, trade references, and other financial information to assess credit risk.


• Approve, decline, or recommend credit terms and limits within established authority.


• Evaluate existing customer accounts and recommend credit limit adjustments based on payment performance and financial condition.


• Monitor accounts for potential credit risks, including delinquent balances, bankruptcies, liens, and other financial concerns.


• Review equipment release requests to verify payment, financing, and documentation requirements have been satisfied.


• Partner with Sales teams, Credit & Collections leadership, and internal departments to support timely credit decisions.


• Maintain accurate credit records and documentation while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.


• Identify opportunities to improve credit processes, reduce financial exposure, and support operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

What We're Looking For

• 3–5 years of experience in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or credit decision-making.


• Experience evaluating commercial and consumer credit information.


• Strong understanding of financial statements, credit reports, payment trends, and financial risk assessment.


• Familiarity with Dun & Bradstreet, Experian Business, MicroBilt, or similar credit reporting platforms.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Ability to make sound, independent credit decisions while managing multiple priorities.


• Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.


• 5+ years of relevant credit analysis experience.


• Experience in heavy equipment, construction, equipment rental, industrial distribution, or equipment financing.


• Knowledge of UCC filings, secured transactions, personal and corporate guarantees, and accounts receivable aging.
