Opportunity Overview:
As a Credit Analyst at Hoosier Hills Credit Union (HHCU), you'll be an essential part of our Credit Administration team. You’ll be responsible for analyzing financial statements and tax returns, underwriting loans, performing cash flow evaluations, and preparing loan pricing recommendations. You will work closely with Relationship Managers to provide insightful risk assessments and help structure loans that support both member needs and organizational goals.
This is a critical role for maintaining strong credit quality and supporting the long-term financial health of HHCU and its members.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver Financial Insights: Spread and analyze financial statements and tax returns for individuals and businesses to assess creditworthiness.
- Prepare Credit Reports: Develop written credit memos and loan presentations to support lending decisions.
- Support Loan Structuring: Collaborate with commercial loan officers to help structure business and agricultural loans that align with policy.
- Manage Risk: Utilize tax and credit analysis tools to identify and mitigate potential risks in loan portfolios.
- Create Value Through Research: Conduct industry and market research to support underwriting and pricing decisions.
- Ensure Accuracy: Prepare loan funding memos, verify pledged assets, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Maintain Compliance: Stay up-to-date with regulatory standards, and complete annual Bank Secrecy/OFAC training.
- Support the Team: Assist in producing reports for the Board of Directors and provide back-up to various credit functions as needed.

What We’re Looking For:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field required.
- Relevant Experience: 1–3 years in credit underwriting, or credit administration preferably in a credit union or similar financial institution.
- Analytical Expertise: Strong skills in evaluating financial reports, tax returns, and assessing credit risk.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and strategic thinking, including project planning, fostering innovation, and resource allocation, with a demonstrated ability to develop creative strategies.
- Investigative Mindset: Intensive fact-finding and investigation skills necessary. Creativity and resourcefulness are required for solving complex problems.
- Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing reports and analyzing data.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with lending and financial software preferred.
- Strong Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey findings and recommendations.
- Team Player: Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Compliance-Focused: Knowledge of regulatory requirements and commitment to ethical lending practices.
