Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Shift Lead to provide leadership on-site while performing paraprofessional duties as a CSC/veterinary assistant. You will support the Practice Manager and COS, ensuring effective communication with clients and staff across shifts.

You will balance leadership tasks (about 20%) with paraprofessional duties (about 80%), recruit and guide staff, educate clients on wellness plans, and help maximize hospital productivity and patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or veterinary technician certification/licensure preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Two years experience (healthcare, veterinary profession, service-type industry) required.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Medical background (veterinary technician, human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) with medical terminology training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead paraprofessional staff and coordinate routines across shifts.
• Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services and managing client flow.
• Maximize the number of pets seen by the hospital team to support wellness plan clients.
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care.
• Assist with surgery as applicable and maintain safety and cleanliness of treatment areas.
