Job summary

The City of Indianapolis & Marion County is seeking a Training Director to lead, coordinate, and oversee the Court's staff training program aligned with policies set by Court administration and the Executive Committee. The role covers initial, on-the-job, continuing, and remedial training for court personnel including judicial assistants, bailiffs, and court reporters.

The director will collaborate with the Auditing Director, develop training materials, and ensure effective use of the Odyssey

Qualifications

• Teaching, training, or coaching experience required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills required.
• Bachelor's degree or relevant Court experience strongly preferred.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the Marion Superior Court staff training program consistent with established Court policies and administrative direction.
• Oversee initial training, on-the-job orientation, continuing education, and remedial training for designated Court personnel.
• Develop, maintain, and update training manuals, instructional materials, and checklists.
• Establish and coordinate training schedules for new employees and continuing training activities.
• Coordinate participation of training team members and trainers with judicial officers, supervisors, and Court administration.
• Delegate training assignments while ensuring coordination, consistency, and quality.
• Conduct training directly when necessary, including Odyssey instruction and remedial training.
• Maintain and improve training resources, including an Odyssey training lab, subject to resources and approvals.
• Review materials and recommendations from Indiana Office of Supreme Court and Trial Court Technology; evaluate best practices.
• Collaborate with Auditing Director to identify recurring errors and deficiencies needing training.
• Recommend remedial training based on deficiencies and coordinate implementation as directed.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and propose curriculum improvements.
• Communicate training concerns and resource needs to the Chief Operations Officer.
• Implement approved changes to training procedures; seek administrative approval for broader policy changes.
• Perform other training-related duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.
