Job summary

Homans, Auburn's HVAC supply partner, is seeking a Counter Sales Associate for our Auburn, MA facility. This full-time role operates Monday–Friday at $22.00-$24.00 per hour and requires you to identify customer needs, describe products, and recommend tailored solutions.

You will greet customers on the showroom floor or by phone, research inventory, prepare orders or quotes, process payments, and assist in maintaining merchandise displays.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of HVAC products and customer needs.
• Ability to process transactions and handle customer questions.
• Basic algebra and numerical calculations.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Sell HVAC equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Greet customers on sales floor or by phone and determine needs.
• Display merchandise and maintain showroom.
• Research availability and prepare orders or quotes.
• Process payments and manage returns/credit adjustments.
• Promote sales to new and existing customers by phone.
• Coordinate with clerical staff on orders and warranties.
• Follow direction from counter lead and support warehouse staff.

Job Description

We are seeking a Counter Sales Associate for our Auburn, MA facility to join our team.This full-time position operates Monday–Friday at $22.00-$24.00/hour. In this role, you will identify customer needs, present and answer questions about products and services, and recommend tailored solutions. A positive attitude and a proactive approach to resolving customer issues will be key to your success. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

• Sell heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Greet customer on sales floor or receive telephone calls and determine make, type, and quality of merchandise desired. Discuss use and features of various parts; demonstrate use of merchandise.
• Display merchandise, suggest selections that meet customer's needs, and emphasize selling points of article such as quality and utility. Maintain a clean and organized showroom.
• Read catalog, or computer for replacement part stock number and price. Advise customers on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.
• Use computer databases to research the availability of merchandise. Fill customer orders from stock or prepare transfers from other location. Prepare sales order or quote order.
• Receive payment or obtains credit authorization. Examine defective articles returned by customers to determine if refund or replacement should be made.
• Solicit new and established customers via telephone to promote sales. Resolve or alert management regarding inventory issues or customer concerns.
• Work with clerical staff to check and maintain open orders, purchase orders, return merchandise purchase orders. Assist in maintaining current and accurate warranty return authorizations and their credit adjustments.
• Follow direction provided by counter lead (if applicable) and lends support to warehouse staff in their duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Practical knowledge of warehouses, data processing, paper flow and operations procedures.
• Must have the ability to process transactions and mediate situations among employees and customers as they arise.
• Beginner to intermediate to advanced users of the Internet and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability to learn new software quickly and accurately.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Any lifting from 50-75 would require assistance from another employee.
• Prior HVAC experience is required.
