Job summary

Phoenix House of New York is seeking a Counselor to join the Wainscott Residential team in East Hampton, NY. You will facilitate daily living activities, group counseling, and treatment-plan implementation to support addiction recovery.

You will conduct individual, group and family sessions, provide psychosocial interventions, and supervise milieu staff as part of a multidisciplinary team in a residential setting. A CASAC is required and we offer strong benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) is required.
• Minimum two years in a behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment program.
• Trained to dispense medications to clients in case of emergency.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual counseling and treatment/recovery plan preparation, monitoring and review.
• Facilitates activities of daily living, community meetings, engagement, carrying out treatment planning in milieu.
• Provide therapeutic interactions to foster patients' social, cognitive and behavioral skill development.
• Provide supervision of milieu staff.
• Provide psychosocial interventions to teach skills for coping with urges, craving, impulsive behavior and cognitive distortions in thinking, motivational interviewing techniques.
• Provide individual, group and family counseling.
• Provide multi-family group counseling.
• Plan and facilitate interactions with residents within the milieu to build social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
• Assisting in supervision of activities related to establishing a treatment environment.
• Prepare and maintain case records.
• Assist in the medication room in case of emergency.
