Job summary

Jobtailor in Massachusetts seeks an experienced Cost Estimator to analyze, evaluate, and coordinate cost proposals for government and commercial customers. You will gather input from cross-functional teams and help prepare bases of estimates across labor, materials, travel, and subcontracts.

You will model and validate estimates, ensure compliance with FAR and TINA, and work with Engineering, Procurement, Contracts, and the proposal team to deliver accurate bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related discipline required.
• 3–5 years of experience in Cost Estimating or related field.
• Top Secret government security clearance required.
• Ability to communicate and present cost estimating information to leadership.
• Experience bidding on contract types: FFP, FPIF, CPFF, CPIF, T&M.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple bids on schedule.
• Capable of working independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, evaluate, coordinate, prepare, and support cost proposals to government and commercial customers
• Coordinate collection and accumulation of cost input from cross-functional departments
• Support consolidation and pressure-testing of bases of estimates across labor, material, travel/other direct costs, and subcontracts
• Research and analyze historical data and develop cost models to support proposal efforts and assess estimate accuracy
• Assess estimating techniques and historical actuals documentation
• Evaluate Bills of Materials and select appropriate pricing methods
• Ensure vendor quotes are recent
• Consolidate cost estimates in the pricing tool/ERP system
• Generate cost volume, financial analyses, and ad hoc support
• Ensure adherence to FAR, certified cost and pricing compliance (TINA), and internal policies and procedures
• Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Program Management, Contracts, the Estimating and Pricing lead, and the proposal team
