Job summary

Jobtailor in Pasadena, CA is seeking a cost estimator for moderately complex construction projects from concept through final pricing. You will work with cross-functional teams to prepare detailed estimates and identify cost-saving opportunities.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 4–6 years in estimating, cost analysis, or project controls. You will analyze drawings, market trends, and vendor pricing to develop data-driven recommendations for project leaders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field and 4–6 years in estimating, cost analysis, project controls, or related field.
  • Experience with reviewing drawings and contract documents to identify scope, risks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to assemble bid packages and provide bidder instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate project cost estimates from concept through final pricing.
  • Extract production data for planning, scope alignment, and integration across DPR family of companies.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify scope, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Precon Coordinators, PMs, engineers, and procurement to assemble bid packages and provide bidder clarifications.
  • Analyze market trends, vendor pricing, and historical data for estimate development and risk assessment.
  • Contribute to value engineering by analyzing cost impacts and proposing alternative materials or methods.
  • Support estimate reviews by organizing assumptions, qualifications, and clarifications.
  • Present data-driven recommendations to project leaders and stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the team

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, a related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 4-6 years of experience in estimating, cost analysis, project controls, or a related field required
