Job summary

NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Training Specialist (NS) to administer institutional training at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. The role involves planning training calendars, identifying needs, and documenting activities, including LMS entries.

Must ensure staff are oriented to DPS policies and procedures. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree with one year of related experience or a GED with five years in a criminal justice or training field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in a criminal justice or training-related field, OR a high school diploma/GED and five years of related experience.
• May require General Instructor Certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to enter data; strong written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage institutional training for all staff to ensure policy compliance.
• Plan and develop training calendars and lesson plans; assess training needs.
• Coordinate and conduct training classes; document and record-keeping; enter training into LMS.
• Conduct New Hire Orientation Training for new staff to onboard to DPS policies.
• Work with staff and other training professionals within NCDAC and CC System; report to Administrative Services Manager.
