Job summary

NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Training Specialist (NS) to administer institutional training at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. The role involves planning training calendars, identifying needs, and documenting activities, including LMS entries.

Description of Work

This position is located at Pasquotank Correctional Institution in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Pasquotank Correctional In situation is a Close/Minimum facility housing male inmates.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The main purpose of this position is to administer and manage institutional training for all certified and non - certified staff to ensure compliance with policy to include re-certification for certified personnel and certification of new employees. Duties include planning and development of training calendars and lesson plans; assessment and identification of training needs; notifications and monitoring of training delivered; coordination and conducting training classes; documentation and record keeping for all training activities to include entering training into the Learning Management System (LMS). This position also conducts New Hire Orientation Training for all newly hired staff to ensure new staff are oriented to DPS policy and procedures. This position must work well with staff as well as other training professionals within NCDAC and the Community College System. This position serves as a General Instructor and be willing to obtain specialized training certifications as defined by NCDAC Policy and Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Salary Range

$41,206.00-$72,113.00

Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions.
