Job summary

North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Programs Supervisor to oversee and evaluate correctional programs within state facilities. You will train staff, supervise operations, and ensure accurate reporting while handling crisis interventions and offender guidance.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a human services or criminal justice field and at least one year of corrections experience, with strict adherence to safety and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services or criminal justice field and one year of experience in corrections or related work.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) are preferred; minimum qualifications include education and experience.
• Must meet Criminal Justice Standards and pass background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and evaluate documents and behavioral data from interviews, written docs, and observations.
• Train, observe, evaluate, and supervise subordinate staff in duties and responsibilities.
• Develop, implement, and manage correctional programs.
• Demonstrate and instruct offenders in the safe use of tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Operate office machines and prepare written reports reflecting information reviewed from sources.
• Perform crisis interventions and routine counseling, including suicide prevention.
• Work in Close/Medium/Minimum Custody facilities under stressful conditions; defend oneself as needed.
• Account for supplies and equipment; conduct surveillance of the work area.
• Monitor off-site programs, may require driving in varied conditions.
