The South Carolina Department of Corrections is hiring for a security supervisor who will plan, coordinate and direct the actions of the security staff in a medium/maximum security facility, ensuring custody and control of inmates and building security.

The role requires a high school diploma, three years in related fields, plus supervisory experience; certification by the SCDC Training Academy within six months.

Qualificações

• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree may substitute for required experience.
• Three years’ experience in correctional, security, military or police with at least one year in a supervisory role.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsabilidades

• Under general supervision, plans, coordinates and directs the actions of the security staff and oversees security, custody and control of inmates in assigned unit(s) of a medium/maximum security facility.
• Assumes primary responsibility for security for all buildings and public property.
• Makes routine checks of the unit(s) to ensure subordinate staff are performing their duties properly and safely, and that cleanliness and OSHA standards are maintained.
• Assists with all inmates counts for accuracy.
• Investigates complaints and violations; arbitrates disputes among inmate population and correctional staff.
